Experts Urge Study of Chemicals and Children's Health

[ Back to Article ]

Hi Steve,

There is an old proverb..."Be careful what you ask for. You may get it."

I have seen so many manipulated and down-right fraudulent studies in the twenty -four years that I have worked in the area of birth defects research. Do these folks really believe that the government will fund a study linking EDCs to birth defects and other childhood disabilities?

Anyone who thinks they will should read a 90-page judicial opinion on a Bendectin case that we have in the Special Reports section of our web site. I teethed on Bendectin and grew up with Agent Orange. There are so many ways to design a bad study that will show nothing that I can't believe these folks are not sophisticated enough to know this.

Dear Betty,

You are right, if the POISON "industry" funds or directs the "study" -- there will be a strange twisting of the facts in order to prove POISONS are "safe" or even "beneficial". I have asked Linda to post your comments on the web site so people will be careful for what they ask......We do not need to get "it" anymore! Thanks for your input! Steve

Are you aware that a multi million dollar Federal study is being done by UC Berkeley on the effects of certain pesticides on pregnant women and children in Salinas. They are also researching the relationship of pesticides and asthma. If you want direct information about this five year study, contact Asa Bradman: abradman@hotmail.com. He will be back in town at the end of the month.
