Integrated Pest ManagementDear Lyndon, Sue Carroll just asked me a question that I thought you might find interesting: I would like you to first read an article from the American Psychiatric Association, dated 21-Mar-00. http://www.newswise.com/articles/2000/3/CHILDREN.APA.html
It is unfortunate that childhood offers no protection against mental illness. In the US, one in five children and adolescents suffer from mental health problems at any given time. The key to ideally handling these childhood disorders is for parents to recognize the problem and seek appropriate treatment. The causes of mental illness in children are complex and never due to a single factor. As with other types of illnesses, mental disorders have specific diagnostic criteria and treatments, and a complete evaluation by a child psychiatrist is imperative to determine whether a child needs help.
Sue Carroll <scarro01@mail.win.org> noted her concern here is:
How many Psychiatrists will diagnose neurotoxicity as a psychiatric condition and put the child or for that matter grown up on medication? This is a scary thought. Here are some relevant quotes from the Congressional Report Neurotoxicity, Identifying and Controlling Poisons of the Nervous System.
Neurotoxic substances play a SIGNIFICANT CAUSAL role in the DEVELOPMENT of some NEUROLOGICAL and PSYCHIATRIC disorders; however the precise extent of the contribution is unclear. Persons who are chronically ill, especially THOSE SUFFERING FROM NEUROLOGICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC DISORDERS, are AT RISK because neurotoxic substances MAY EXACERBATE EXISTING PROBLEMS. This assessment focuses on NEUROTOXIC SUBSTANCES, those chemicals that adversely affect the nervous system. Included among such substances are industrial chemicals, pesticides ("REGISTERED" POISONS), therapeutic drugs, abused drugs, food, food additives, cosmetic ingredients and naturally occurring substances such as lead and mercury.
Well Lyndon, one does not have to be a rocket scientist or psychiatrist to see there may be SOME REAL POTENTIAL DANGERS in constantly contaminating our children with your "registered" POISONS OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM! As the Senior Research Scientist in California does any of this concern you? Or, do you beLIEve that it is really not too bad yet, as only one in five children and adolescents suffer from "mental illness" at any given time!
Lyndon, I can personally tell you I have seen how "mental illness" quickly disappears in many poison victims - once you detoxify them. My question to you is far more simple, "Why POISON (make any of them "mentally ill") in the first place?" Let's Protect the Children - Not the "Registered" POISONS!
Respectfully, Stephen L. Tvedten
