Dear Lyndon, I thought you might like to read a little more on "Does PB Lead to MCS"?  Don Paladin suggested you read this section on MCS from a review of research on the Gulf War Syndrome by the Rand Corporation. It is very, very interesting. It compares GWS and MCS with some good discussion.

Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) is a putative condition without a widely accepted clinical case definition, in which persons report new subjective sensitivity to low-level exposures to multiple chemicals and foods, typically following a (self-reported) environmental exposure to pesticides, organic solvents, or building remodeling. The condition has also recently been termed "toxicant-induced loss of tolerance" (TILT) (Miller, 1997; Miller, Ashford, et al., 1997). Symptoms referable to multiple organ systems are reported by subjects with MCS; these include ear-nose-and-throat, CNS, GI, genitourinary, skin, and musculoskeletal symptoms, among others (Davidoff and Keyl, 1996; Miller and Mitzel, 1995).  Well Lyndon, it seems to me there is ever increasing anecdotal and scientific evidence that your "registered" POISONS are making a whole lot of people ill and killing more than a few unfortunate victims.  I want you to remember the "first" organophosphates were specifically created to KILL PEOPLE not pests --- so, why have you "registered" these terrible toxins? Lyndon, Did you happen to notice that in President's Clinton's Executive Order that the President orders the pursuit of "availability of known, less environmentally harmful processes". Section 503.b?  When will it be "legal" (in your opinion) to use safe and far more effective alternatives to control pests in California?

 Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten
