New Push to Eliminate Food Chain Pollutants---

[ Back to Article

That's the first time I've seen anyone, besides myself, question the location of pesticide dousing of populated areas in relationship to Jewish communities.  The last aerial spraying of malathion (supposedly for medflies) in California was focused in an area with a large retirement village.  Ironically, with a high Jewish concentration, many Holocaust survivors.    People got very sick, some died.  But how many hibernating medflies did they hit with a mist from 500 ft., in a helicopter that winter, spraying 17 times, every 2 weeks?

Of course gov't spraying of Indian reservations is also notable -the Rosebud  Res in SD, reputed to be the most impoverished of all reservations, has had  serious trouble with being sprayed with neurotoxic malathion for trumped up  pest problems.

Jews & Indians.  Where are Dr. Mengele's papers on his human experiments, one wonders?  And why do certain groups seem to be unequally exposed to pesticides today?  The article raises interesting, but frightening, questions.

For what it's worth, you may want to report your adverse reaction to the company which in turn is required to report any info on adverse reactions to your regional EPA office. Send a blind copy to your regional EPA office which is supposed to take action if they do not get this report directly from the manufacturer. A game of course, but this is the procedure as explained by James West at my regional EPA in Georgia.
Also you may find info at this site helpful in the future -- excerpts from MSDS's and addtional info on ingredients are included below the lists of pesticides at the top. http://home.interpath.net/sioux/tox/pestlist.htm
Also you may want to contact Chris Gerry at The Town of Carrboro for info on handling weed problems without using pesticides. Town of Carrboro Public Works Dept: Chis Gary will send out an info packet on their new practice of least-toxic IPM for the town -- the phone # is 919-968-7716, hours 7:30 to 4:30
