Dear Lyndon, I thought you might like to read about EPA's preliminary risk assessment for your "registered" Malathion.

David Wallinga sent me today's federal register notice from EPA about the release of its preliminary risk assessment for malathion.  EPA's assessment raises concerns, for the first time, about malathion's cancer risk. Concerns have also been raised about respiratory, allergic and asthma problems related to malathion exposure, as well as possible endocrine disrupting effects. It's notable that the registrant has withdrawn its support for all indoor uses of the chemical. These will be dropped. Outdoor home uses, such as on lawns and fruits,  however, will be supported.

The deadline for submitting public comment to EPA about its review, is in 60 days. The procedure for doing so is described in the federal register notice itself, which is attached.

The risk assessment documents are posted electronically on EPA's web site, at  http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/op/malathion.htm

Well Lyndon, How many tons of "registered" active ingredient were sprayed in California (inside and outside) before someone thought this POISON should undergo a few tests?  Shame, shame on you!

Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten

(Editor's Note:  This assessment does not include the "medical" uses of this pesticide poison which includes applying to adults and children for head lice and scabies.)

Please!
