Dear Lyndon, I thought we might look at the results from the Newton Breast Cancer Study, that were released to the public in October, 1999.  Initiated as a follow-up to research done by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) and conducted by the independent Silent Spring Institute (SSI) the study found that cancer rates among women from Newton, Massachusetts, were higher in areas where women were affluent, used "registered" POISONS, were well-educated and had regular mammography screenings.  Newton was chosen by the MDPH because its breast cancer rate was 13% higher than the state-wide rate.

The SSI Study found some key differences between respondents in the high and low incidence cancer rates areas of Newton included:

1.)  Used termite control products at least three times as an adult - High Incidence Area (HIA) = 17% vs. 9% in the Low Incidence Area (LIA).

2.)  Used lice control products at least three times as an adult - HIA = 22% vs. 15% in the LIA.

3.)  High routine use of pesticides - HIA = 30% vs. 23% in the LIA.

4.)  Ever used a professional Lawn Service - HIA = 65% vs. 36% in the LIA.

5.)  Played Golf -HIA = 6% vs. 3% in the LIA.

Well Lyndon as we both know, the "registered" POISON "industry" will once again ignore this study and will continue to sell their "registered" POISONS until ENOUGH women have gotten CANCER and/or DIED!  In over 35 years in the field of pest control no "regulator" ever accompanied me or any of my people to see if  we applied any of these "registered" POISONS per the label directions.  And as we both well know Lyndon, most of your "registered" POISONS are not adequately tested even for the acute dangers of the active ingredients- and you simply ignore ALL of the (often more dangerous) "inerts", synergistic effects, metabolites, contaminants and chronic health effects. I sincerely hope and pray Lyndon, that before you "fade into the sunset" you will realize that: The greatest weakness for many people is that they don't realize their own strength.  It would be wonderful if you would simply allow the "legal" use of safe and far more effective alternatives to your dangerous "registered" POISONS before you retire.

Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten

(Editor's Note:  Okay, at what point do the people start meaning more than profits?  Government officials can be sued for malfeasance... is endangering and killing off the population not considered malfeasance?)
