Administration Proposal to Serve Irradiated Beef to School Children

*

Irradiation is bad news for food quality for at least two reasons!

1.     It nukes vitamins and breaks them into fragments that have zero vitamin value. Vitamins are nature's molecules that we need to run our bodies' machinery and software. We are hardwired for vitamins but our bodies don't synthesize them.

2.     Irradiation also creates toxic chemical byproducts from cellular chemicals that are zapped by the nuclear radiation. After all, if irradiation will destroy bacterial cells which are bigger than vitamins molecules, etc., why won't it breakdown the much smaller vitamin molecules.

Beware food irradiation is coming to Chi-town!

I am appalled and alarmed that any proposal to irradiate food schoolchildren eat has been put into a public policy proposal. Te endanger children's health with such a technology is to endanger public health and the future health of young children with their physical and mental growth ahead of them.

Food irradiation has not been proven safe to health. The FDA gave its approval based on scanty and dubious studies. Food irradiation has more to do with a nucleur waste program than nutrition. Irradiated food produces unique radiolytic products that human metabolism and human physiology have NO experience processing.

The people who propose food irradiation ought to be required to read all of the literature about what ionizing radiation of food is, and then be required to participate as guinea pigs in a scientific study to determine the long term safety of irradiated food, before food irradiation is pushed upon the unaware public.

A recent proposal to stop testing school food for salmonella was alarming. Perhaps that was a forerunner for those who want to push food irradiation on schoolchildren.

In an era when good nutrition is correlated with good health, why do any public officials want to disseminate a technology that can only deplete nutrition, not adding to the quality of food?

I have had a debilitating case of Fibromyalgia for over ten years. So has my adopted brother, whom I haven't been around for twenty years. We have no doubt that our vulnerability to the disease had to do with chemical exposure. This country is always so quick to progress that it is at the expense of her people. WE DO NOT KNOW what irradiation will do in the long run, and the last thing we should be doing is "trying it out" on our children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
