Six Seattle Parks Go Pesticide-Free Environmental and Community Groups Applaud City's Efforts

Unfortunately, the release below makes it sound rosier than it really is. The "six parks" that the city agreed to keep pesticide-free are either tiny patches of land or playfields, not any of the major parks in town where people gather, hike, or picnic. Grounds crews around the city still use deadly chemicals to eliminate invasive plants, kill wasps, and weed. Seattle has a long way to go. The "notifications" of spraying that Parks Department agreed to turned out to be small 8X10 signs with small print that they leave up for only 24 hours.

So they get the good press while the citizens and the animals get the shaft.
