Dear Mr. Helliker, I thought you might like to read this: http://www.chem-tox.com/pregnancy/sperm1.htm
SUMMARY OF ARTICLE:Miscarriages Linked to Men with Lower Sperm Counts
In summary, the researchers stated,
"In the group of abortions (miscarriages) there was a highly significant increase in the percentage of abnormal spermatozoa as well as a highly significant decrease in the absolute number of normal spermatozoa. The conclusion is reached that defective semen may be an important factor in the etiology of abortions (miscarriages)."
Sperm Counts Decline Since 1940's Testicle Abnormalities Increase
SOURCE: Environmental Health Perspectives, Vol. 101(2):65-71, 1993In conclusion the researchers stated,
"Recent data clearly indicate that the semen quality has markedly decreased during the period 1938-1990, and concomitantly the incidence of some genitourinary abnormalities including hypospadias, maldescent, and cancer has increased. Such a remarkable increment in the occurrence of gonadal abnormalities over a relatively short period of time is more likely to be due to environmental rather than genetic factors. Generally, it is believed that pollution, smoking, alcohol, and sexually transmitted diseases play a role."
Fathers' Drinking Lowers Birth Weight of Babies
SOURCE: Miami Herald, June 19, 1986, pg. 24a
Dr. Little stated,
"The father's drinking was significantly related to the infant's birth weight independently of the mother's alcohol, tobacco and marijuana use. There are lots of theories. If you expose the reproductive material to enough of anything, you'll damage it and the offspring will be damaged."
The research did not investigate whether this loss of weight occurred in the child's body mass or brain weight.
Sperm Damage Suspected from Chemotherapy - Offspring Show Motor Development Disorders
SOURCE: Science, Vol. 211(2), January, 1981
In conclusion, the researchers stated,
"Our data suggest that the behavioral effects measured during the preweaning period of the F1 progeny of the CP-treated rats were consistent in that the same animals that appeared developmentally retarded in the cliff avoidance tests were also retarded in the swimming tests. That the CP induced a genetically toxic effect is supported by (I) the time interval of 14 days, which involved a period of 3 days of rest after treatment and 11 days before conception of the first litter in the treated group and (ii) the short half-life of cytoxan in rodents and in man; half of the cytoxan is eliminated within hours after cessation of long-term systemic treatment. These data suggest that behavior testing of the F1 generation might be used as an endpoint to detect abnormalities induced during spermatogenesis and transmitted through the sperm. This end point would then be used to evaluate genetically transmissible effects of potentially mutagenic, carcinogenic, or teratogenic compounds. Further studies will determine if the observed differences are transient or permanent in nature. In either case, however, the procedures used in this report indicate a transmissible effect which can be used to detect genetically toxic compounds."
Low Sperm Counts and Infertility More Common in Agricultural Workers
SOURCE: American Journal of Industrial Medicine 24:587-592, 1993
Men working in the agriculture industry showed more than a ten-fold increased risk of having infertility in comparison to other job occupations. Investigating their "suspicions" after treating infertile couples, physicians at the Institute of Sterility in Vienna, Austria compared 103 consecutive couples who had sought artificial insemination with donor sperm (abbreviated as AID) and compared their job occupations with 103 couples who had sought help due to female fertility problems. The researchers reported that the patients medical histories showed no indications that diseases, long-term medication use, or cigarette smoking was related to male infertility.
Pesticide Causes Testicle Damage Reduces Sperm Counts
SOURCE: Bulletin of Environmental Contamination Toxicology 55:1-7, 1995
Results showed that sperm counts were significantly reduced in the DC1P and DC2Pgroup and animals exposed to the pesticide DBCP showed a drastic reduction in sperm counts in comparison to the normal controls. The animals exposed to the ACH metabolite also showed a slight but significantly reduced sperm count. Regarding the morphology (shape) of the sperm, there were not significant differences among any of the groups except a drastic increase in sperm without tails in the DBCP group. Whereas, there were only 14 per1000 sperm with missing tails in the control group, there were 865 per 1000 sperm with missing tails in the DBCP exposed animals. Such a drastic paralysis to sperm certainly explains the resulting infertility from these chemicals.
Surprising Testicle/Sperm Abnormalities Appear After Consumption of Chemically Grown Foods
SOURCE: Journal of Reproductive Fertility, 1:130-138, 1960
If nothing else, this research strongly implies the importance of consuming organic food for couples wishing to have children. This study also suggests the need for conducting further investigations into possible effects upon offspring quality from consumption of organically grown foods during the 74 day sperm development period in human males.
Anesthesia Suspected in Abnormal Sperm Development
Source: Anesthesiology 54:53-56, 1981
Problems in spermatogenesis in mice has also been found to occur after exposure to common anesthesia enflurane (Land et al., 1981). Morphologic changes were observed in mouse spermatozoa after exposure to inhalation anesthetics during early spermatogenesis. (details of this study to be posted)
Well Mr. Helliker, It seems to me that your 'registered" POISONS (and others) need to be removed from our lives, if we want to live long and prosper. In April 1980, the President's Council on Environmental Quality issued a report by economics professor A. Myrick Freeman. It concluded that "national benefits which have been realized from reductions in air pollution before 1970 lie in the range from roughly $5 billion to $51 billion per year," with the best estimate for 1978 being $21.4 billion. The savings included lowered damage to human health, crops, forests, vegetation, buildings and other property. What do you think the national benefits would be if we eliminated the use/misuse of your "registered" POISONS?
Respectfully, Stephen L. TvedtenQuotes to Ponder:
"The first task is population control at home. How do we go about it? Many of my colleagues feel that some sort of compulsory birth regulation would be necessary to achieve such control. One plan often mentioned involves the addition of temporary sterilants to water supplies or staple food. Doses of the antidote would be carefully rationed by the government to produce the desired population size." — Paul Ehrlich, The Population Bomb, p.135
"A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal." — Ted Turner - CNN founder and UN supporter - quoted in the The McAlvany Intelligence Advisor, June '96
"Childbearing [should be] a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license ... All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing." — David Brower - first Executive Director of the Sierra Club; founder of Friends of the Earth; and founder of the Earth Island Insitute - quoted by Dixie Lee Ray, Trashing the Planet, p.166
"Truth is not what is; truth is what people perceive it to be." -- Adolf Hitler, Propaganda Maxim
