EPA ordered to (finally) assess pesticide health risks

Hello:

I was most interested to read your note onn "Court Forces EPA to obely the law / GAO sys EPA and USDA not doing job".

Although I am not a resident of the US, we (Canadians) share your frustrations regarding the lack of monitoring of bans and/or regulations pertaining to organophosphorrus and carbamate pesticides.

As a survivor of being exposed (aerial sprayed) to the very toxic effects of Furadan (Carbofuran) I feel compelled to respond to your advocacy efforts such as your e-mailed note presents.  The exposure I was subjected to has left me very disabled and am now totally dependent on the use of a wheelchair for mobility as well as a list of neurological symptoms secondary to the tosic exposure of Furadan.

In Canada, there is a "partical" ban on this pesticide i.e. the province has OK'd it's use on strawberry crops.........horrific!

I have sent many letters to our federal and provincial regulatory agencies however my plea for a 100% ban be placed on Furdan falls on deaf ears.  Since I am not getting any satisfaction at the government level, I feel I must present and share my dilemma with the local strawberry growers association.

Are you aware of anyone who has taken this route --- i.e. presenting/addressing (in person) the matter at  the "roots" level at a  local Strawberry Growers Association meeting?  If so, are you aware of the outcome of such an exercise?

Your interest and any suggestions are most welcomed.

Thank you
