Industry point of view:

"We would all rather live in a pristine world," said Jere White, a lawyer for Monsanto and Solutia, in his opening argument two weeks ago. "We are all going to be exposed to things on a daily basis. Our bodies can deal with it."

Dear Steve.

The Washington Post article today on Monsanto PCBs in Anniston, AL only hit the tip of the iceberg. I was a toxicologist/IH on this case for the plaintiffs law firms. The PCB levels, years after some cleanup, were still great. Ms. Mim' s yard was still highly contaminated after they claimed it was cleaned up. The Monsanto lab also did not report accurate results of the tests they did. Monsanto tried to blame the health problems on lead in soil. The entire town needs to be deserted and turned into a toxic waste landfill. If you saw that the PCB drain pipe from the plant actually is now at the edge of a street corner you would be amazed.
