Chemicals and the Biological Boomerang

Our consumption of chemicals has exploded, with about 3 new synthetic chemicals introduced each day. Almost nothing is known about the long-term health and environmental effects of new synthetics, so we have been ambushed again and again by belated discoveries.  One of the ominous chronic effects: as pesticide use has increased, so has the evolution of pesticide-resistant pests.

Solution: A large-scale shift to organic farming; a shift away from excessive consumption of synthetic chemical products; and application of the precautionary principle to the chemical industry.

Vital Signs Indicators: Transgenic Crops Proliferate; Pesticide-Resistant Species Flourish

Well Mr. Helliker, More and more proof your "registered" POISONS are not really controlling pest problems.  When will it be "legal" (in your opinion) to use safe and far more effective (unregistered) alternatives to actually solve (resistant) pest problems?

Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten
