Agent Orange dumps investigated

Investigations are under way into allegations by former ICI workers that Agent Orange chemicals were dumped in various locations around Wellington and Cook Strait 30 years ago.

The constituent chemicals of Agent Orange, 2,4D and 2,4,5T, were packaged at the ICI chemical plant in the Hutt Valley for export to the United States.

Barry Strong of the Wellington Regional Council says although they have found no contamination so far, they have good evidence that dumping has occurred in some areas.

Strong says representatives of the old ICI company are looking into records and will meet the council later this week.

Agent Orange still contaminating

An American researcher says new tests on people living in a part of Vietnam heavily sprayed with the defoliant, Agent Orange, have found startlingly high levels of cancer-causing dioxin.

Arnold Schecter, a professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Texas, says blood taken from 43 people living around the former U.S. airbase of Bien Hoa, near Ho Chi Minh City, contained dioxin levels up to 206 times higher than average.

Schecter says the tests reveal that people are still being contaminated 30 to 40 years after Agent Orange was originally sprayed.  Published on Mar 02, 2002

ONE News sourced from TVNZ, RNZ, Reuters and Bridge

Well Mr. Helliker,  We are obviously STILL being CONTAMINATED by your dangerous but ineffective "registered" POISONS 30 to 40 years after these POISONS were originally sprayed.  Mighty impressive "residual" POISON (it STILL is HARMING innocent people) but, obviously is no longer "controlling" the weeds!  But, that is good news for the POISON "industry" profits - more and more "registered" POISONS are now being sprayed!

Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten
