Dear Mr. Helliker,  I thought you might like to read an article from the NATIONAL NEWS dated: FRIDAY, 15 MARCH 2002 entitled: Spray officials pay for sick woman's motel stay

14 MARCH 2002 - By RANI TIMOTI. http://www.stuff.co.nz/inl/print/0,1103,1133784a11,FF.html

A Kelston, Auckland woman with chronic asthma is being relocated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Sally Lewis, whose asthma worsens during spraying of the painted apple moth, gets her

99 motel bill paid for by the ministry during spraying.

Her health specialist bills are also covered.

Mrs Lewis and her husband, Ollie, get a warning call from the ministry a day before spraying begins.

They then make plans to move into a motel.

"I'm supposed to be out of the district before spraying and 48 hours afterwards," she says.

Mrs Lewis began experiencing health problems during spraying earlier this year.

"I'm a chronic asthmatic but have had it under control for years. But since the spraying, my airways have been affected and I'm left with a cough which sounds like a seal barking."

She says the only way to avoid problems is to leave home.

"But it's still an inconvenience as half our stuff is at the motel and the rest is at home. I still have to go to work in Laingholm, unless MAF wants to pay my wages or a replacement employee."

The Western Leader understands at least one other person may also have been relocated at the ministry's cost.

Officials refuse to comment.

Well Mr. Helliker, will you pay for the health specialist bills and to relocate all of those who need to avoid contact with your "registered" POISONS?  Or will you refuse to comment?

Respectfully,  Stephen L. Tvedten
