Dear Mr. Helliker, I thought you might like to read an article entitled: Vegetables in pesticides scare dated 25 April 2002.
BRUSSELS - Nearly half of all green vegetables and fruit in a recent test contained traces of pesticides, according to a new European report.
And in some cases the permissible limit for pesticides was exceeded by 20 percent.
According to the report, which has been seen by Flemish Green MP Johan Malcorps, in 43 percent of the 14,000 samples taken traces of pesticides were discovered.
But Pascal Houbaert, of the Federal Food Agency, said that exceeding the normal limit for pesticides did not mean the public's health was in immediate danger. The limits were aimed at discouraging pesticide use by farmers, he said.

Well Mr. Helliker, why set any "limits" for "registered" POISON contamination/pollution when they are simply ignored?
Respectfully, Stephen L. Tvedten
