Solution to bugs

Re: Attack of the lawn-eating grubs.  May 15.

Lawn experts are mistaken if they state that nothing can be' done to kill adult June bugs and' European chafers (the adults of white grubs). My father, a forester from Germany, had an excellent no-pesticide method of dealing with a huge infestation of June bugs
that threatened our small tree nursery in the 1950s.

The trick is to suspend a light bulb, such as a work light about half a metre over a large basin of water, such as a baby bath or a child's splashing pool, and add a small amount of soap. At night the bugs are attracted to the light, fall into the water and drown. You can get rid of hundreds of potential egg-laying bugs each night during the two week period when they are flying. There's no cost and no harm done to the environment.

Well Mr. Helliker, This would be "illegal" for growers and pest control people to use in California and the items used would all be unregistered pesticides - right?
