To Parents of Poisoned Children:
I was disabled by pesticide poisoning from routine applications made in schools in which I worked. Now a free lance writer on this and related subjects. I have been asked to submit an article to a national magazine on the subject of pesticide use in the schools/SEPA legislation etc.
I would like to conduct interviews with parents of children harmed by pesticides in the schools for this article. Discussions of legislation and statistics are meaningless without the voices of the victims of this practice. You would need to be willing to be identified by name and to fax/mail to me some simple documentation confirming the event (e.g. letter to school, doctor's note, blood test result etc.).
As the article is destined for a magazine for persons with allergies/sensitivities - many of whom do not know the origins of their own or their children's problems - the information can be of great value to the uninformed.
The federal government continues to protect the pesticide industry by refusing to pass legislation permitting us to obtain even advance notice of chemical applications (SEPA legislation) much less restricting the use of toxic chemicals on school property. This censorship must be publicized as widely as possible for any changes to be effected.
If you would like to be interviewed for the article, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your attention,
Barbara Rubin
