Agriculture and Forestry agents test local Malathion supplies

Safety concerns led New Orleans to suspend use of Malathion.
Agents are testing the supplies to make sure the pesticide did not degrade into a poisonous compound called isomalathion. Malathion supplies are stored outside even during the summer months. High temperatures are known to cause the pesticide to break down to a form that is poisonous for humans to breathe. New Orleans Mosquito Board says it's never had a problem with the pesticide. Tests results should be back in two to three weeks.
