As a health professional practicing for more than 27 years, I must add that I too am appalled by the lack of concern for woman's health issues regarding the increase of breast cancer. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that we are losing precious lives every day due to environmental exposures to chemicals that we are inundated with -- without our permission or our knowledge. Women need to be protected and educated concerning the risks of exposures to chemicals.
Drug companies are all too powerful and greedy. The health concerns to woman are negated. Research on this subject appear to be minimal.
A prime example to this is last summer when we were inundated with chemical spray to combat the ever notorious West Nile Virus. While it can be a harmful disease to a small percentage of the population, most scientific evidence states that it is a relatively benign disease to the greater percentage of the population. It has also been shown that spraying is counterproductive in that it affects the DNA of the mosquito and actually weakens it so that it is more likely to become a carrier.
Not to mention the devastation to the environmental balance--killing off predators to the mosquito as well.
Most of this information is negated and never seen by the large numbers of woman who are affected by chemical exposures.
Why isn't the American Cancer Society looking into prevention of breast cancer -- isn't there enough money in that?
How can we find a way to make money in prevention? Maybe then something will be done!

your article about the exposure to chemical radiation etc is much appreciated and needs to be read by many...it is quite true that all people think is that if they do not have a genetic basis for the development of breast cancer that they are safe!! and since the medical community does not convey anthing other than the above, most individuals feel that the environment plays no role in the develpment of cancer and other illness.....they certainly need to be advised of the facts!!!!!!!!!!!!....................................................
