International Pest Control Community Ratifies Historic Mission Statement

ORLANDO — The ideals under which the world-wide pest control industry operates have been defined within a clear statement of intent known as The Orlando Protocol.

This protocol was ratified at an official signing ceremony during the NPMA Pest Management '02 Convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, Orlando, Fla., in October.

Produced by the informal World-wide Environmental Pest Management Alliance (WEPMA) grouping, this mission statement for the pest control industry has taken nearly a year to draft and seek unanimous approval.

Following in the established tradition, the protocol took its name from the location of its singing. At the signing ceremony, which was sponsored by Sorex International, PestWest and BASF, the heads of the four regional pest management associations (NPMA, CEPA, COPLAG and FAOPMA) initiated the signing.

Each regional association was presented with their own leather-bound book, produced by Benjamin Gomez of Univar Mexico, within which the signatures of all their territorial associations, organizations and individuals will be recorded.
