Time is right for pesticide bylaw

With reference to the Nov. 5 article "New city pesticide bylaw being drafted should be in place for spring spraying": I absolutely encourage the city of Montreal to go ahead and put in place a strict bylaw on pesticides for the entire city. Boroughs can go further if they wish to have an even stricter bylaw.

This island-wide bylaw must be strict enough to protect human health all across Montreal, with equal protection for all residents. This is a health matter, and therefore should be the same for everyone in the entire city.

The Pesticide Code of Quebec, which is expected at the end of this year or early next year, will make the implementation of our Montreal bylaw easier.

It would be worth noting that an election promise to ban the cosmetic use of pesticides for Montreal has not been forgotten. The time is right for positive action.
