   WHAT CITIZENS CAN DO
Personal choices and political action

"To be the eyes and ears and conscience of the Creator of the Universe..."
 -- Kurt Vonnegut

That was fictional Kilgore Trout's answer to the question "what is the purpose of life?"  If we are not the conscience of the Creator of the Universe who shall be?  If we keep this concept in mind, perhaps our collective actions can reverse the scourge called cancer.  Reversing the cancer epidemic will require effort, both personal and public.  Personal effort to become educated as to the facts and the issues to protect our own lives and those of our family, and public effort to change the dangerous course on which we find ourselves, locally, nationally and internationally.

On a personal basis, much information given to patients is insufficient to make informed choices, and much information is incorrect.  Not everyone has the will, the resources, the energy, or the guts to do extensive medical research in cancer causes and treatment options, but the least we must do is to ask questions, demand answers, and consider options.
