Guidance for DSE Workstation Assessment Checklist

1. MONITOR

Swivel and tilt as required.

2. SCREEN

Readable and stable image, flicker free, no disturbing glare or reflections.

3. KEYBOARD

Separate, usable, readable, adjustable.

4. WORK DESK/SURFACE

Sufficient desktop space, wrist/forearm support, no reflections.

5. WORK CHAIR

Comfortable, stable, adjustable for both height and lumbar support.

6. ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT

Document holder, task light, footrest, as appropriate

7. SPACE REQUIREMENTS

Allow for postural changes at the workstation, and legroom.

8. LIGHTING

No direct or indirect glare or reflections, window blinds, task lighting.

9. NOISE

Minimise any distracting noise.

10. THERMAL COMFORT

Background temperature, excessive heat from equipment, humidity, ventilation.

11. SOFTWARE

Minimise obstacles to the user.
