First, let me give you some background information
In early September, our 2 year old Yorkie, started scratching and breaking out in hives or bites, resulting in severe itching and then sores and a dead scaly-scummy skin buildup on his skin. Needless to say he was miserable. My daughter took him to the vet coming home $150.00 poorer, with the diagnosis of a skin allergy to fleas. This was very disturbing, as he had no fleas. By this time a few of us started experiencing some itching ourselves. I had told my daughter to tell the vet about our itching but the vet said it was unrelated and insisted the dog's problem was an allergic reaction to being bitten by one flea! This must have also been an invisible flea as no one had seen any in the yard, on the dogs or in our house.
So per the vet's advice I started to treat this poor puppy with the recommended treatments, but he got continually worse. He stopped eating, his skin would flare up in red bite marks and be warm to the touch and the itching was driving him crazy, he whined day and night and it caused open sores and bleeding over much of his body. I would sit with him every night and rub hydrocortisone cream on his skin to help relieve the itch and try to loosen some of the 'yucky stuff' off his skin by combing him. This became a ritual and soon I broke out in the same rash and I too, was so miserable I could now understand the dog's constant whining and itching!!!!
Then one by one members of the family broke out to different degrees with a rash! Well, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure out that we were all getting eaten alive by something. I had already gone the whole gamut of cleaning the entire house, washing everything that could fit in the machine, bathing the dogs in toxic dips, going to the doctors and even getting a prescription for Elimite, a toxic skin treatment for human scabies for the entire family (remember the vet said we couldn't share our dogs condition).
Finally after the misery for human and dog escalated, we took a trip back to the vet. I had resorted to spending hours on the internet searching for information. Only then did we receive a correct diagnosis from the vet, after I insisted that she do a scrapping and showed her the bites on myself and my daughter. Now keep in mind that all the while, she is telling us that it is very unlikely that this could be from our pet, as it usually does not infest humans. I was persistent and stated my research showed a strong possibility otherwise and we have all broken out in this rash since the dog became infested and I had tried Elimite (twice) and dips and cleaned the entire house now please do a skin scrapping!!! What a surprise, the scrapping showed that the dog indeed had a case of Canine Scabies. Oh really!!!! Without my consent the vet administered Ivermectin and sent us home with shampoo, Ectosoothe (we are now $86.00 poorer after this visit).
Well, I have always been a little wary of Rx meds, I like to know what it is they want me/or my dog to take into my/his body, so I went onto the web and started my research into the meds and the disease. It was here that I looked for some alternative to putting poison on an already sick and immune suppressed dog! I was frustrated because to do nothing meant that this would just recycle itself in the pets and my family. I was desperate. Then I found your site Safe2use! I couldn't order it fast enough, in fact I ordered it next day air, not realizing that you were located just ½ hour away. You corrected my error and thankfully we received the package the next day.
We received the diagnosis of Canine Scabies from the vet on Monday October 8th, and I called you that day and received our order on Wednesday. As soon as I got the package I washed the dog. I was amazed!!!!! All the scummy dead skin stuff and the crud that had built up on the edge of his ears just rolled off into the water. The week before I had sat for 3 hours with ointment and massaged his ears trying to pull some of the dead crusted junk off his ears!!!! I would daily massage cream onto his sores and work off some of the scaly crust that covered most of his body. After only 10 minutes of working your shampoo, LiceRGone (and dog scabies) this stuff just rinsed off! Huge chunks of ear gunk dropped off his ears, it was absolutely amazing. Since that day the dog has improved!
On October the 8th, I had put a deadline of a week for him to get better, October 15th, or else I would have to put him to sleep. The family and he could not live with this awful situation he literally looked half dead already, couldn't eat and was miserable. And we were all itching like crazy! I know for some they do not and cannot understand the misery this situation caused. The itching and biting sensation is literally manic. I had scratched some bites on my legs in my sleep so hard that I woke up with bruises we would itch 24 hours a day. There is no way to describe this if you have not gone through it. And I would never have believed that we could have come down with something like this, as I pride myself in keeping a fairly clean house. But thanks to the most amazing products LiceRGone and Enzyme Cleaner with Peppermint, we have found relief and a dog lives! By October 11th, just three days after using the shampoo he improved so much that people who had seen him the week before could not believe their eyes!
We still have a few residual sores but are diligently spraying and soaking in LiceRGone and I have found the benefits of cleaning with Enzyme Cleaner with Peppermint to be so beneficial that I don't use anything else. I have found it can replace all the other toxic and need I say, much less effective cleaners, I previously used. The only soaps I will keep and use are:
1. Clothes detergent: however the least toxic I can find, as adding just a small amount of enzyme cleaner with peppermint makes my wash come out as if it was brand new bright and soft!
2. Dishwashing detergent: I actually spray a little enzyme cleaner solution on the dirty dishes before I close the door and start the wash - sparkling dishes!
Now to list the many positive and beneficial uses of your products that were above and beyond the reason I bought them, which was to rid the family of dog scabies!!! Which they did and more your enzyme cleaner diluted works to clean and freshen the entire house. I spray it everywhere!
- A.M. before and after making beds to freshen and protect sleeping areas of the family.
- Before I vacuum ..it actually makes the carpet feel cleaner!
- In each bathroom a sprayer and a roll of paper towels, helps clean tub, sink, counter and toilet. I have now trained the family to sprits the bathtub and showers after each use.
- In the kitchen, sprayer for countertop, stovetop, even the floors before I mop.
- In the air of each room it truly does freshen the air without any heavy scents or residue it just smells fresh.
- It actually does windows and mirrors without streaking!
- Spray into the dishwasher seems to help with our hard water dishes seem to have less residue on them. They actually sparkle.
- A small amount does wonders in the wash this was a total surprise I put it in to help with the scabies problem and was amazed how soft and bright the clothes came out.
- I daily spray the dog bed and where they lay to keep their sleeping area clean and smelling less dog-like!!
- I put a little on my toothbrush before adding toothpaste,(I was curious if it can work against bacteria I figured it wouldn't hurt!) it doesn't taste so great but my mouth is distinctively cleaner and fresher.
LiceRGone another product I found I can't live without!
- It is the only thing I found (and in a 3 week period, I bought plenty of stuff) that relieved the itching. And eventually it killed the pests that were on or in our skin. It takes effort, you must be religious about soaking once a day and spraying any itch that you feel. However it was heavenly after itching like we did to spray your shampoo on and feel relief.
- The itching has stopped but we still use your shampoo once or twice a week as a bath soak (you can really feel the difference on your skin), and as a spray for any residual itching from the allergic reaction to the dog scabies.
- If the dogs itch, I spray it on them to keep them free and clear from any unforeseen parasite attacks or skin irritations.
It is a little scary how much I love with these products!!! I am a stay at home mom and for 30 years I have always been concerned about the cleaner that I used in my home. Where have they been all my life!! Two of my children suffered with eczema, allergies and asthma and I was always worried about the chemicals in household products. There is so much we don't see and aren't told about what is in the things we use and consume in society today. I had accepted the fact that I had to use something to clean and tried to find the least harmful products available, however I felt I was accepting a lower level of clean. But once I started using enzyme cleaner with peppermint I have noticed my house is cleaner, fresher and with much less effort! Who doesn't want that!
