Pest companies and Farm Supply houses carry and recommend different items. . .The pest company will normally only use that approved for use in a home. . . While the Fram Supply house may have more alternatives, though not necessarily approved for use in the home

The Fram Supply near me carries the below insecticides, considered efective for mite control. . . Personnel thereat indicate that a mite infestation is one of the worse bug infestations to successfully control

========================
$52 a quart - Dragnet SFR Termiticide by FMC Corp - - Active Ingredient = 36.8% Permethrin
http://pestsolutions.fmc.com
Can be used in the home
========================
$72 a quart - Talstar by FMC Corp - - Active ingredient = bifenthrin
http://pestsolutions.fmc.com
Not recommened for use in the home
========================
$300 a quart - Avid Insecticide by Syngenta - - Active ingredient = Abamectin
http://www.syngentaprofessionalproducts.com/to/prod/avid/

AVID's abamectin, is based on a naturally occurring soil fungi, discovered near a golf course in Japan.
Overview: Avid an insecticide for mites and leaf miners, has expanded to include suppression of aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. Widely used miticide/insecticide for ornamentals. Odorless, no unslightly residue left, and Rainfast within hours of application. Not recommended for use within the home though. AVID is available in a 0.15 EC formulation

Stimulates the release of Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA), which causes insect paralysis soon after ingestion. Within hours of exposure, feeding and damage to the plant stops, but death may take up to 2-4 days. Different from conventional insecticide/miticides; effectively controls susceptible and resistant mites and leafminers

This Farm Supply House gets about five Customers a year who have Scabies . . . Usually, elderly. . . . People that just can not get rid of their Scabies and mites, no matter what the Physician gave them. . . . People that have lost faith in the medical treatments, and are desparate for any solution they can get. . . The Farm House makes no recommendations, as they can not by Law. . . They only identify what insecticides they have available for controlling mites

Home Depot carries many of the same chemicals as the Farm House. . . Concentrations are different though

Some buy nothing. . . Some buy the Permethrin. . . . A few really desparate persons bought the $300 Avid. . . The Farm House does not know what they did with the chemicals bought. . . .

BTW - - Pest companies have never proven useful (or trustworthy) to me. . . Years ago, they would spray homes with Dioxin to kill fleas . . (And I sure would not let them do so).

BTW - -Mites seemingly are a major problems on Golf-courses, and it seems that they have pursued their own treatments (the Avid development). . . As of now, I doubt that you will find a pest control company any good in controlling mites
