My roommate started scratching a month ago. All the Dr's would say was that it was scabies. They did no testing, no analysis, no nothing. 3 different doctors have looked at her skin and diagnosed her this way. So we both had a million questions. We had spent countless hours, day and night, online, trying to get some of these questions answered. She was told to call our states health department. The only info they had for us was to clean, launder, and bag up...WE KNEW ALL THAT!! So, I called the CDC in Atlanta. The woman thaat answered the phone said, "Hold on, let me see what the book says." When she returned to the line, she told me how to clean and bag items. I told her to forget it. I realized that we knew more than the CDC. Now quite angry, we began looking at all the different parasite photos we could find. Meanwhile, my roommate is performing minor surgery on herself with an exacto knife! We think we have determined that it is Morgellans disease. Here's the problem with morgellans: doctors say that it's a "dilusional psychoses". My roommate has pulled a multitude of things out of her skin. Some dragonfly shaped, some mushroom shaped, some worm shaped, some that look like strands of cotton fibers. IF THIS IS DILUSIONAL, SHE WOULDN'T HAVE SAMPLES TO SHOW ANYONE. SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE WELL DEFINED BODY PARTS AND PARTS IN VARIOUS LIFE STAGES. See, morgellans comes from unsanitized plastic drinking bottles. The bottled water industry is completely unregulated. I could wash bottles out with tap water and dish soap, rinse it, put normal tap water in it, seal it, and sell it. And if I had the proper licenses to run a business, NO ONE WOULD SAY A WORD TO ME! No one would inspect my company for compliance to health policies. I wouldn't have the FDA at my door waiting to do a walk thru and give me a score. The bottled water industry is HUGE! If this was classified as a disease attributable to water companies not properly sterilizing their bottles, there would be thousands of lawsuits. There would be millions of people out of work. There are lobbyists in place (hundreds of them) to ensure this doesn't happen!!
So, although I agree that there are a ton of people out there that will be helped by your article, I do not think that it fits everyone.
